Beyond Chess Puzzle 006 Solution
Beyond Chess offers the opportunity to hide checkmates because sometimes, it’s only mate after a tile/square is shifted, removing the king’s only escape. This scenario is a great example. White is once again on the defense and it’s black’s turn to give the finishing blow! The black queen moves from f3 to f1 to threaten the king. She’s protected by the bishop on a6. The king would be able to move from check to d~1, but black shifts d~1 to d~2, removing the escape route. White is unable to move a piece to get out of check, sooooo… Mate!
